The Training Resource Academy is dedicated to improving existing training programs and developing an integrated approach to education for those who work with and care for children. Training is the key to quality health and child care in virtually every setting where children are nurtured. Rapid advances in knowledge about childrens growth and development require constant rethinking of the way in which we care for children, especially in relation to the critical importance of the early years of a childs life. Training and re-training caregivers is the most effective way of positively influencing the provision of high quality care for all children.
Training Resource Academy initiatives are focused on:
- Building a better system of care for young children through training those charged with that care: practitioners, parents and other caregivers;
- Facilitating the coordination of organizations which provide training to caregivers;
- Encouraging best practices in child development through training; and
- Exploring new research and ideas from around the country that could improve the quality of care in Connecticut.
Partnership and Funding:
The Training Resource Academy is a partnership between CHDI, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Education, Healthy Child Care CT, the American Academy of Pediatricians, the American Association of Family Physicians, the United Way of CT/Infoline, the State Library, the CT Charts-a-Course and the Wheeler Clinic.
