CHDI is also home to the Connecticut Center for Effective Practice (CCEP), a unique partnership of state agencies and academic institutions working to improve the effectiveness of treatment provided to all children with serious and complex emotional, behavioral, and addictive disorders. The overall mission of CCEP is to develop, train, disseminate, evaluate, and expand effective models of practice in mental health and juvenile justice.
CCEP activities include:
- Identifying, implementing and evaluating effective treatment models that are appropriate for the state’s system of care initiative Connecticut Community KidCare
- Developing and implementing statewide training for KidCare’s mental health care coordinators
- Collecting evaluation data on KidCare’s local mental health collaboratives to inform stakeholders about the impact of evidence-based treatment at the community level
- Promoting a uniform behavioral health assessment model that will ensure children receive the most appropriate and least restrictive treatments
- Developing tools and resources to empower families with children who have mental health conditions and/or are involved in the juvenile justice system
- Promoting strong peer mentoring programs for families with children in the juvenile justice system
CCEP includes a group of active partners, which are the state Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Judicial Branch's Court Support Services Division (CSSD), the University of Connecticut Health Center Department of Psychiatry, the Yale University School of Medicine, the Yale Child Study Center, the Yale Consultation Center, and CHDI itself.
