CHDI has convened four private foundations in Connecticut that have pooled their resources to select and provide funding and technical assistance to two communities serving young children and families. The funding is intended to help these communities develop early childhood partnerships to strengthen the linkages between health services and other early childhood programs and supports, especially early care and education sites.
The grantees will demonstrate what it takes to develop and sustain local collaboratives that support integrated systems for young children. The projects are improving access to behavioral and oral health services and preventing obesity through improved nutrition and increased physical activity. The funders anticipate using this work to inform the planning and development of other local community initiatives to build comprehensive health and development systems for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families.
