Juvenile Justice
Through the Connecticut Center for Effective Practice (CCEP), CHDI focuses on children who are at risk of becoming involved in the juvenile justice system, as well as those who are already involved in the system.
CCEP is working diligently to promote early assessment, diversion and referral to appropriate services for children involved in the juvenile justice system. CCEP has been working closely with state agencies that service children involved in the juvenile justice system, as well as advocacy organizations such as the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance (CTJJA). CCEP has been working with state agencies to promote an integrated system of care that intervenes with children early and prevents them from becoming more deeply involved with the system.
Through producing seminal reports that examined the services and assessment needs of children in the system, to signature programs such as Multisystemic Therapy and Community-based Wraparound, CCEP has worked diligently to improve the juvenile justice system in Connecticut and prevent children from entering the system in the first place.
