CHDI focuses on promoting healthy child development by making lasting improvements in the delivery of primary and preventive care. Toward this end, we combine direct funding with research, policy analysis, advocacy, and technical assistance. CHDI seeks improvement in the quality of care - emphasizing family-centered, comprehensive care that encompasses both physical and behavioral health. In addition, the Institute pursues enhancements in outreach and care coordination, to ensure that children and their families have access to quality care.
We employ various strategies to help us realize our goal, from identifying areas in need of improvement to raising awareness of promising practice improvement ideas and, finally, working with key partners to implement those practice improvements in Connecticut. Our work spans several critical subject areas, as outlined below. For more information on our work in these areas, simply click on the topic of interest.
