School Readiness Indicators Initiative
Connecticut is one of seventeen states selected to participate in the Indicators Initiative, a project funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The goal of the initiative is to improve school readiness, using the development and dissemination of indicator data on child well-being as a vehicle for advancing systemic change at the state and local level. In partnership with state agencies, advocates and researchers, DataCONNections is developing a set of key child outcome indicators and identifying strategic opportunities to exhibit the data. As a result, policymakers and other stakeholders will be able to evaluate the efficacy of current services and make necessary changes to better enable Connecticuts young children to enter school healthy, secure and ready to learn.
