The Training Resource Academy was created to foster, develop and improve education and training opportunities for health practitioners, child care workers, parents and others who care for children. The Academy does not directly provide training, but rather acts as a catalyst to improve quality and access, and to promote a more integrated approach to training and professional development.
The CT Training Calendar For Early Care and Education In March 2003, the Training Resource Academy launched a statewide Training and Event Calendar to track training opportunities for all providers of care for young children. Working with state agencies and independent organizations that offer training to staff, parents and other caregivers, the calendar acts as a statewide clearinghouse that permits anyone to know at a glance what training is being offered and by which agency or organization.
Health Consultation to Child Care Providers The role of the child care health consultant needs to be strengthened in order to fully realize the correlation between health and child care. Creating a network of health consultants who can support and provide technical assistance to child care sitesas well as ancillary support from mental health, nutrition, social work and literacy consultantswill greatly enhance the well-being of children across disciplines.
EPIC (Educating Practices in their Communities) The Training Resource Academy, in partnership with the CT Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CT Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, has launched a new training initiative to inform pediatricians and their staff about childrens health issues right in their own offices.
