School-Based Mental Health
IMPROVING MENTAL HEALTH IN THE SCHOOL SETTING
CHDI is committed to improving the mental health of Connecticut’s children where they live and learn. Schools can play an important role in identifying youth in need of help and linking them to school and community mental health services.
Children’s well-being is tied to their school success and life outcomes. The failure to identify and meet the needs of students with mental health concerns can result in:
- Disruptions to their academic instruction
- Exacerbation of social and behavioral problems
- High rates of school exclusion due to suspension, expulsion and even arrest
Our work helps schools build their capacity to identify and treat behavioral health concerns so children can reach their full potential.
