Young Adult Services
Improving the quality of Connecticut's Young Adult Services
CHDI partners with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to provide Quality Improvement (QI) services for the Young Adult Services (YAS) division.
What is YAS?
The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) has a Young Adult Services (YAS) division that helps young adults (ages 18-25) navigate the adult behavioral health system and develop the necessary skills for adulthood. YAS was created to bridge the gap between services provided by the Department of Children and Families and DMHAS.
Since 2025, CHDI has provided QI services to YAS.
CHDI strengthens YAS programs through:
Defining best practices for data collection and establishing improvement benchmarks
Updating scales and tools that assess the fidelity and utilization of the various YAS services, including residential and housing programs
Creating opportunities for young adults to provide qualitative feedback through tools and surveys
Analyzing previously collected data and collecting qualitative data to uncover differences in service quantity and quality
