Alana Valdez, MA
Senior Communications Coordinator
Alana Valdez joined CHDI in January 2026 as Senior Communications Coordinator, supporting the communications team with a primary focus on social media and email marketing.
Prior to CHDI, she spent four years teaching middle school art before transitioning into the nonprofit sector. She most recently served as Project Coordinator at The Connecticut Women’s Consortium, where she led content creation, digital strategy, and communications initiatives. Outside of CHDI, Alana works as a freelance communications professional, partnering with nonprofits and small businesses to strengthen their digital presence.
Alana holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in illustration from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Smith College.
