A recent article in CT Insider shines a light on how staffing shortages, low reimbursement rates, and rising youth behavioral health needs are leading to longer waitlists and other challenges for youth and families needing care.

The piece features an interview with Senior Associate [update: now Director of System Development and Policy] Aleece Kelly, MPP and cites a recent CHDI report on how these challenges are impacting intermediate levels of care in Connecticut, including the providers highlighted in the article. Intermediate levels of care are intended for youth who don't require inpatient hospitalization but need more intensive support than outpatient treatment.
