The Mobile Response and Stabilization Services Model
PEER-REVIEWED PUBLICATION
This article, published in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of North America, provides an overview of best practices for Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS).
MRSS is a home- and community-based crisis response model for youth and families that ensures children's safety during a behavioral health crisis, provides support in homes and communities, and reduces reliance on emergency departments, inpatient hospitalization, and juvenile justice.
Co-authored by CHDI's Kayla Theriault, MPH, Jeffrey Vanderploeg, PhD, and Kellie Randall, PhD, along with Sarah Quinn, MSW, LCSW-C, and F. Tony Bonadio, PhD, from the Innovations Institute at the UConn School of Social Work, and Yvette Cortez, MA, of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, this publication highlights practices and data from Connecticut's Mobile Crisis Intervention Services (MCIS) as an example of the success of the MRSS model—as well as the success of quality improvement efforts that have strengthened the service over time.
