Trauma is pervasive among youth in the juvenile justice system, and recognizing it requires specialized skills.

The Trauma ScreenTIME Juvenile Justice Course is a free, online course that teaches anyone who works in the juvenile justice setting—including probation officers, detention officers, juvenile intake interviewers, caseworkers, and more—how to screen youth for trauma.

This course provides staff with the knowledge to effectively screen for trauma and provide youth with supports and services to help them recover from the effects of trauma exposure, and was developed by national experts based on current research and best practices. 

Topics covered in this course include: 
  • The importance of screening for trauma and traumatic stress in juvenile justice settings
  • Common questions about trauma screening 
  • Developing a screening process for your setting  
  • Selecting a screening measure 
  • Conducting screening and discussing screening results with youth 
  • Using the results of screening to help youth 
     

The Trauma ScreenTIME Juvenile Justice Course is now available FREE in Connecticut.

This program has been approved for 3.25 Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT, and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal.
