Read our Issue Brief "Preventing Childhood Obesity: Maternal-Child Life Course Approach - An evidence-based approach to curbing early childhood obesity".
Childhood obesity has major implications for the physical and psychosocial well-being of millions of children and youth living in the United States. Recent research shows that obesity may be very difficult to reverse if children are obese by 5 years of age. This report reviews the scientific evidence on what is known about early determinants of child obesity.
The Child Health and Development Institute (CHDI) is a non-profit organization providing a bridge to better and more equitable behavioral health and well-being for children, youth, and families. We collaborate with policymakers, providers, and partners to transform child-serving systems, disseminate evidence-based and best practices, and advance policy solutions that result in better outcomes for children in Connecticut and beyond.
